Privacy policy: Android app

What the Chatxy Android app handles, who receives it, and how to get it deleted.

Last updated 24 October 2026

This policy covers the Chatxy Android app. The website at chatxy.org has its own privacy policy. Chatxy is operated by Chatxy PVT LTD, registered in Sri Lanka. Contact: support@chatxy.org.

What the app collects

  • Your messages and attachments: when you send a message, the app sends the conversation (recent messages, any images or text/code files you attached, and your display name and custom instructions if you set them) to our server so an AI model can write a reply. If you turn on Search, the model may also look up web pages to answer. Messages are used only to produce the reply. We do not use them for advertising and we do not sell them.
  • Anonymous account ID: the app signs you in anonymously the first time you open it. This creates a random ID (no name, email or phone number) that we use to limit how many messages one install can send per day and to prevent abuse.
  • Reports: if you tap the flag icon on an AI reply and send a report, we store the reply text, the reason you picked, any details you typed, the model name and your anonymous ID, so we can review problem content.
  • Microphone: if you use voice input, the app uses your device's speech recognition. Depending on your device, audio may be processed by Google's speech service. The app itself does not record or store audio.
  • Files and photos: the app only accesses files you choose with the attach button. Attached images are also saved inside the app's private storage so they still show in your chat history.
  • On your device: your chats, settings and attached images are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app or deleting a chat removes them.

Who receives data

Message content is processed by:

  • Supabase, our backend host: runs the server function and anonymous sign-in.
  • OpenRouter (openrouter.ai): routes your request to the AI model you picked.
  • The AI model provider you pick (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Alibaba, Moonshot AI or Perplexity). Each handles data under its own privacy policy.

We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs in the app, and we do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention and deletion

The server does not keep your chat history; chats live on your device. Usage counters and any reports you send are kept so we can run and moderate the service. To have your anonymous ID's server-side data (usage counters and reports) deleted, email support@chatxy.org with the report text or time you sent it, or contact us from the same device. Deleting chats or uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device.

Children

Chatxy is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

AI-generated content

Replies are generated by AI and can be wrong or inappropriate. Check important information. Use the flag icon on any reply to report it.

Security

Connections to our server use HTTPS. The AI service key is held on the server and never shipped inside the app.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and post the new version on this page.
